There are over 5 million Ultimate players in the United States, where the sport is best known as a club or recreational sport. Even so, there are professional and national teams, and the US Team has won gold medals in Open, Women’s, and Mixed divisions in international play on 2014. Ultimate Frisbee players are prone to a number of lower-body injuries, mostly to the ankles, shins, and knees. This is caused by the extremely sudden moves associated with the game; in the attempt to “get open.” In addition, they face the possibility of repetitive motion injuries to the elbow and forearm. These can be caused by the awkward throwing angles and positions in which players frequently find themselves. Finally, most players report finger and hand injuries (sprained or “jammed” fingers happen quite often). Whatever your level of play, IthacaSports has products that are intended to promote recovery and reduce the risk of injury. We carry a number of specialized braces and splints for ankles, knees, elbows, wrists, and h ands. We also carry blister-care products and good old-fashioned athletic tape. Have questions?
